You can build your credit history with an Alaska USA Secured Visa® Credit Card. It works like a regular credit card, but it's backed by funds on deposit in your Alaska USA savings account.

There's a minimum of $500 you need to keep on deposit, but that also qualifies you for an Alaska USA Relationship Checking account with no monthly maintenance fees.

Taking out a secured loan and making all your payments on time can help you rebuild your credit, establish a positive credit history, and improve your credit score.

Card Security offers an easy and convenient way to turn your debit and credit card on or off in the event it has been misplaced or stolen.

You can access Card Security in one of two ways:

  1. Login to your account using the Alaska USA app and click the Card Security icon, or
  2. Login to your account online and click the Card Security link.

Once you have accessed the Card Security page on the App or online, simply click the on/off button to turn your card on or off. Any automatic payments or pending transaction made before the card was turned off will continue as normal.

The intent of this program is to provide credit cards to members who would not otherwise qualify for an unsecured credit card because of insufficient credit experience or poor past credit history. Approval of secured credit card requests requires a completed credit card application and no evidence or indication of current or future credit problems. Members who have caused the credit union to suffer a financial loss are not eligible for this program.

Establishment of unsecured credit card credit limits may be considered after two years' satisfactory performance on a secured basis. Approval of such unsecured limits requires loan officer review of a current application and underwriting consistent with usual standards.
