What is Extra Credit?

Extra Credit is a revolving credit line provided by many local merchants through an arrangement with Alaska USA. Customers apply for Extra Credit at your location, allowing them to complete their purchase easily. Then they receive a special credit card - with their name and your company name - for use only at your location.

What kinds of merchants offer Extra Credit?

Hundreds of merchants in Alaska and Washington offer Extra Credit financing to their customers. They include those selling appliances, jewelry, home entertainment equipment, fine art, home furnishings, personal computers and personal recreation equipment. Many professional service providers also offer Extra Credit, including dental offices, veterinarians, chiropractors, cosmetic surgeons, and clinics.

How can Extra Credit help my business?

Extra Credit gives your customers an easy financing option, which helps you to complete the sale. Plus, Alaska USA provides the tools and resources needed to make the program successful:

Revolving line of credit - Customers approved for Extra Credit will receive a revolving line of credit unique to your business. Your company's name will be embossed on the card and will appear on their monthly Extra Credit statement. The card is also good for repeat purchases at your store only.

Same-as-cash programs (for qualifying merchants) - Give your customers the extra incentive of delaying their payments for 90 days, 6 months, 12 months, 16 months, or 18 months. If members pay off their balance before the expiration of the same-as-cash period, they won't pay any interest.

Other programs - Non-interest accruing plans are also available, and additional financing plans and rates are an option for qualifying high-end purchases.

Simple application process - One short form makes the loan application easy for you and your customers. Just fax it in for a quick decision.

Fast loan decisions - Alaska USA's Dealer Loan Center has a reputation for excellent customer service. It's open extended hours seven days a week and on most holidays! (Monday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sundays and holidays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Alaska Time).

Expedited funding - Alaska USA can provide same-day funding through direct deposit to your financial institution's account.

Low discount rates for you - Save money with plans that can be less expensive than a credit card swipe!

24/7 repeat sales authorizations - Your customers can count on their Extra Credit card for future purchases, with fast, toll-free authorization 24/7.

Staff training program - Alaska USA representatives will teach your staff everything they need to know to make the Extra Credit program work for your business.

Merchandising materials - Brochures, posters, price tags and table top displays are available to help you let customers know about this easy financing option.

Does my customer have to become a member of Alaska USA?

Yes. However, there are many ways to qualify, and the process is streamlined along with the credit application.

Fees vary depending on the type and length of term offered to the customer. Call a Merchant Services Officer for a detailed Fee and Discount Schedule.

How long does it take to set up Extra Credit?

Usually no more than three business days after Alaska USA has received a signed Merchant Agreement.
